or in my gravy, if you wish the phrase!

I do make pasta with my own choices of the ingredients. I make a sauce following my mind
J No one stops me, of course. So here are the preparations made on different days – just the shapes are different – one is helix- fusilli and the other butterflies-farfelle.

The sauce had onions, tomatoes, cheese, Indian spices etc. The Indian spirit is shown in the garnish of coriander.

I like it. I also love the authentic Italian pasta. There was an Italian restaurant in Bandra next to Mexican [Taco Bell] and one more eatery– Pizza Hut. It was a small but a lovely place. As I close my eyes and recall – I see Sandipa, Indrani, Gabin, Pravina… I had pasta with Pravina – she was from HCU – a Keralite with a PhD in Economics. A very tall girl! We enjoyed her two days stay with me at Nandina. Another time, Sandipa, Indrani and I went to eat there. All I remember is lots of giggles, change of tables and Leslie Lewis with his family in the adjoining table. I don’t remember who all were there for the dinner with Gabin. I remember Gabin because he paid the bill – as usual. Bandra is such a lovely place. I had a wonderful time – thanks to the dhinchaekers, ncstians, Sandipa, Indrani on her flying visits, Deepa, the bhel-puri wala, the kulfi wala, the chai-wale at the reclamation bus-depot, the peanut sellers at bandstand, the candle sellers at St. Mary’s church, the bookseller at Lotus…the sulky ‘Madam’ at the grocery store, the nice people at Deepak stores, the ‘uncle’ at Radhika STD booth…. the plays at St. Andrews and Rang Sharada…Other restaurants we went frequently – Pal’s Fish corner, Lucky, the Goan restaurant next to it, Stomach [Chinese], Sherlock Homes [now closed], Shiv Sagar and Hot Breads. At China Gate, Nafisa Joseph was sitting at our adjoining table with her family. Her conversation was loud and audible – it was about how she misses B’lore – is all I remember now. Felt bad when I read the tragedy years later.
Oh my God! So many things are rolling down the memory lane… Shopping on Hill Road, Linking Road, watching sunset at Bandstand, feeling the peace at St. Mary’s church and Mt. Carmel church, walking through the small lanes admiring the Goan type houses, chatting with our watchmen, observing our neighbour from building number 7 – the actor Rohini Hattangidi, playing with the little brats, Lakshana, Tanu, the dhinacheks…
Some day will go and relive “Bandra”, but now will go and make the aalu+egg curry – had boiled them yesterday, but didn’t cook them for two reasons – somebody gave me chicken curry and I hadn’t finished my spring cleaning. Not that the cleaning is done yet today! No matter how hard you try, cleaning the house doesn't get over in one day...
